Oh. I don't know if they do this sort of thing in your city, but around here the local college has a day where the kids drop off all of the stuff they don't want or need (usually the day right before school gets out for summer). You can find food, clothes, etc. It's free for the taking, otherwise they dump it!
If they don't do that around your town, maybe I can check here for you and send whatever I can find. :)
